Our team
Meet the Founder
Jonathan Rowley is a health innovation specialist with experience working at the intersection of the NHS, health technology, and commercial innovation.
Before founding THRIVE, Jonathan held a senior NHS Head of Innovation role, giving him a perspective that most health innovation consultants simply don't have. He understands what the NHS needs from innovators, and what innovators need to successfully navigate the NHS.
THRIVE was born out of frustration. Working inside the NHS, Jonathan saw first-hand how many genuinely promising health innovations failed to reach patients, not because they weren't good enough, but because the founders behind them didn't have the knowledge to navigate a system as complex as the NHS.
Since establishing THRIVE, Jonathan has supported health tech startups, scaleups, and SMEs across grant funding, NHS procurement, innovation strategy, and market adoption, helping clients secure over £2.3 million in grant funding and achieve commercial milestones including NHS procurement wins, and successful investment rounds.
Jonathan works with organisations across the NHS and independent health sector, including BUPA, Nuffield Health, and Circle Health, as well as health tech founders at every stage from pre-seed to scale.
His areas of expertise include NIHR funding programmes, Innovate UK grant strategy, NHS procurement frameworks, health economic modelling, and innovation readiness assessment.
